Grants to other charities and organisations

Sitting at the heart of the RAF Family we are pleased to be able to provide financial support to external organisations delivering demonstrable positive change and tangible assistance to members of the RAF Family. We also run a separate grant programme to support activities on RAF Stations/Units and for dependents of the serving RAF. Find out about our Station Grants Programme.

Our External Grants programme supports the costs of activities and services that deliver at least one of our nine Welfare Outcomes. These Welfare Outcomes demonstrate the changes required to deliver the impact we hope, collectively, our funding will have to enable all within the RAF Family to live with dignity, purpose and peace of mind. We require Large and Capital Grantees to report against these outcomes at the end of their funding period.

Application Process

Our External Grants programme is split into three funding streams.

Please note, small grants are usually made within two weeks of an application being received into the Fund's Welfare team.  At times when the team are experiencing heightened demand for support, applications may take a little longer to process. Grants up to £500 are usually made available within 24-48hrs.

Please email completed applications, along with a copy of your annual accounts to We aim to reply to applications within 8-12 weeks. Please ensure you have read a copy of our guidelines (PDF 416 KB) before completing the application form.

Outcome Reporting

For Large and Capital Grantees we require a Post Grant Report to be completed (Word 79.06 KB) at the end of the grant funding period or with the next grant application, whichever is soonest.
