Partnership launched with knitwear brand

The RAF Benevolent Fund is excited to launch a new partnership with quality British knitwear brand Glenbrae.

The Yorkshire-based mill has created a range of hand-finished knitwear to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain and a proportion of the sales will go straight to the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund.

Ken WilkinsonThe special edition crested jumpers and scarves, as worn by Battle of Britain Spitfire pilot Ken Wilkinson, are available exclusively at For each jumper and scarf sold, Glenbrae will donate £10 and £5 respectively to the charity.

Richard Brown, owner of Glenbrae, said: "We're proud to partner with the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund during this historic anniversary. We've had the honour of meeting some of the pilots who flew during the Battle of Britain, and their story is truly inspiring.

"The Fund is continuing to provide a vital and much needed service to current and former RAF personnel, and as such, this is a campaign which is of great importance."

As part of its Battle of Britain commemoration, Glenbrae presented 20 of the surviving Battle of Britain veterans with bespoke crested jumpers. Interviews with two of those pilots, Hurricane pilot Tony Pickering of 501 Squadron and Spitfire pilot Ken Wilkinson of 616 Squadron, feature on the Glenbrae website.

Edward Sharman, Senior Corporate Partners Executive from the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, said: "Glenbrae has a reputation for quality and they were the perfect choice when selecting a knitwear partner.

"The 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain brings into sharp focus the efforts of the RAF in protecting our skies, from 1940 through to today.

"The sale of these garments will not only help us to continue to support the entire RAF family, but also will help ensure we never forget what these brave men and women did for our country."

Supporters of the RAF Benevolent Fund can receive a special 20 per cent discount on bespoke crested jumpers and scarves by visiting the website and entering RAFBFPL at checkout.
