RAF Benevolent Fund and Ultimate High team up to help RAF families

The RAF Benevolent Fund (RAFBF), the RAF's leading welfare charity, and Ultimate High, the aerial adventure company, came together at Cotswold Airport on 13 May to launch a new fundraising and awareness partnership.

As Ultimate High's charity of the Year the RAF Benevolent Fund will benefit from discounted aerobatic experiences, branding on Ultimate High aircraft and various other opportunities.

On the day Ali Pearce (26), from Chippenham, Wiltshire, was given a free aerobatic experience in an Ultimate High aircraft. Ali, who has Down Syndrome, was helped by the RAFBF after her father, Tom, applied to the charity for support. The RAFBF provided Ali with a motorised wheelchair to enhance her independence.

Tom said:

“I think this partnership is great. The RAF Benevolent Fund was there for our family when Ali needed support and they’re there for anyone else past or present who needs help. I am so grateful for the help we received and I think anyone with an interest in the RAF should support them.”

Charlie McIlroy, Ultimate High's Chief Pilot and former Red Arrow, said:

“We are delighted to be working closely with the RAF Benevolent Fund. As nearly all Ultimate High instructors are serving or former RAF personnel, this charity and the excellent work that it does is very close to our hearts, especially at this particularly difficult time for the armed forces."

Cerys Truman, RAFBF Regional Fundraiser for Wales and the West of England said:

“We are thrilled to have been chosen as Ultimate High’s charity of the year. As leaders in the field of aerobatic experiences they offer us a fantastic avenue to raise awareness of our work as the RAF’s leading welfare charity with visitors to airshows, who we know are hugely supportive of the work the RAF does to defend this country.

“The RAF Benevolent Fund spends over £21 million supporting serving and former members of the RAF and their families every year, so this kind of support is absolutely vital to us. I thank Ultimate High for their enthusiasm and look forward to a smashing year of high octane thrills!”
